I hate the thought of throwing out anything that will end up the a landfill and try daily to do small bits to help our planet where I can.
These fun recycled crazy crayons will not only save those sad wee crayons from landfill but also give you some beautifully new fun crayons to use at home or to give as a gifts.
What you need:
Old crayons
Silicone mould - We used these https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/mini-snowmen-silicone-candy-mould/654165-1000
Baking tray ~ one like this is perfect https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/non_stick-deep-oven-tray-30cm/645076-1000
How to make :
Step 1.
Preheat the over to 180.
After you remove any paper on crayons use the knife to chop into pea-size pieces, keep similar colors together.
Step 2.
Help your little ones to fill the moulds, we tried to only used 2 or three colours max per mould. Its best to overfill the mould as when they melt it will sink down into the moulds.
Step 3.
Place filled mould on baking try and put in over for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, you will see the crayons melt down, when done carefully remove from over and let cool untill completely cold.
Step 4.
Carefully remove from mould, admire and let your little ones enjoy using.
If giving as gifts pop in an old jam jar with a handwriten tag.
We hope you enjoyed making these and if you give them ago please tag the The Crafty Cherry in your social media so we can see and share.
